John Ollom - Dance Instructor
John Ollom received his BFA in Ballet from TCU where he trained under Fernando Bujones of ABT and the Royal Ballet, Li Chou Cheng of the Beijing Ballet, and Stephanie Rand of the Cincinnati ballet. While at TCU, he was the only male chosen to dance Fernando’s original choreography in Reggio Emilia, Italy. He has also trained at Colorado Ballet and Boston Ballet.

He has performed La Valse, Cinderella, and Firebird with Fort Worth/Dallas Ballet. In New Hampshire, he danced with Granite State Ballet. He has performed at the Kennedy Center with Infinity Dance Theater and Lincoln Center with Diane Faye Dance Theater. His dancing has taken him to Africa, Europe, and the east coast of China with Michael Mao Dance. He has performed at St. Marks Church with LostWax. He has performed with Annabella Gonzalez Dance Theater for three seasons. In July of 2005 he went onstage with the Bolshoi Ballet at the Met Opera House in The Pharaoh’s Daughter.

In July of 2005, John was awarded residency at the Baryshnikov studio at the White Oaks Plantation. He created two new works for his own dance theater company, Prismatic Productions, Inc. This residency was sponsored by the Field and the Howard Gilman Foundation. John was chosen with nine other artists to create new work. John’s work has been shown in John Ollom’s the Journey, and the operas Dido and Aeneas and Orfeo and Euridice He is currently creating three new works for the Prismatic 2006 season at the Clark Theater at Lincoln Center.

As a teacher, John teaches partnering workshops in the professional series at the Harkness Center for Dance at the 92nd Street Y. He has also taught at Dance Space Center. He just finished the Prismatic Summer Dance Intensive at Smith College in Northampton, Mass. Where he is a featured faculty member. He has been the ballet master at the McBurney Y since 2000. He is the dance faculty coordinator at the McBurney Y under the directorship of Barbara Parker.
